Lady Katheryne Pia Cox, Baroness of Featherington
First Lady of Her Majesty's Bedchambers

Lady Featherington has been in service to Her Most Royal Majesty, Queen Elizabeth Gloriana for more years than either cares to counte. She first came to serve as lady in waiting, companion and governess to the then young child, Princess Elizabeth as a pawn in her father's, Lord Robert Oram, Baron of Brunswick, bid for favore. Not much more than a child, herself, her skills with needle, household management, her love of music, dance and poetry, her mischievous nature, and her unusual aptitude and thirst for all manner of learning brought her quickly to the attention of the Princess.

"Kat", as the Queen is oft to speake of her, has remained faithfully at the side of her Most Gracious Majesty through most of the turbulent, perilous and even joyous years of the Queen's life. With all the years spent together she is the keeper of the Queen's secrets (and if reminded may tell one of such).

At the insistence of her Sovereign, "Kat" wed Lord Walter Cox, the Queen added to his estates and influence with the title Baron of Featherington for his service in the Irish campaign. The few months Katheryne spent away from the Queen, during her honeymoon and early years of marriage with her husband at his Nestingham estates, were while the Queen made her annual progress to such villages as Hollygrove. Soon both were called back to service, he to battle, she to the Queen's side.

On the rare occasions on Progess in Hollygrove that Lady Featherington is not in attendance on Her Most Gracious Majesty, one may find her spending time with Mistress O'Connell, the librarian of Hollygrove, as they have become faste friends over the years as Lady Featherington has often been housed in the library during the stay in Hollygrove. Mistress O'Connell also acted as companion and chaperon to Lady Featherington on the long ago and interesting holiday to Kiev.

Lady Katheryne is easily distracted by the sparkle of a lovely jewel, the shimmer of a beauteous gowne, the well turned calfe of a courtier, or of any shiny object more oft than not. Her foote taps to moste any music, her laughter ripples at a goodly jest and a blush rises easily to her cheek when caught in such mischievous, impious pursuits.

Do not be fooled into thinking she is but a frivolous magpie. She is truly a person of her experiences. She was once overheard debating with the Baker; "Why, if the peasants have no bread, do they not eat crumpets?" She is as layered and multifaceted as the fan of a peacock's tail. All at once she is as wise as an owl in the ways of Court and its intrigue, naive as a newly hatched chick about the world outside her sphere, fierce as an eagle in her devotion to her Liege Lord, Queen Elizabeth Gloriana, and as inquisitive as a raven of the world about her.
